Elementor
Site owners and freelancers who want a popular, well-documented visual builder with a huge add-on ecosystem.
Visual editors, theme building, dynamic content and performance: how the main WordPress page builders compare on the features that matter.
Page builders let you design WordPress pages visually, dragging in sections, columns and elements instead of writing code. The best ones go further, building headers, footers, archive templates and WooCommerce pages, and pulling in dynamic content from custom fields, which turns them into full site builders.
We compare the most popular builders: Elementor, Divi, Beaver Builder, Bricks, Breakdance, Oxygen, WPBakery, Thrive Architect, SeedProd and Brizy, plus block-editor based options such as Spectra and Kadence Blocks. Each one is checked against 25 features covering editing, elements and templates, theme building and dynamic content, and performance and workflow.
Every feature is marked as free, paid, add-on, partial or not offered, with a note and a source link. The ranking combines feature coverage with popularity and ratings, so you can compare beginner-friendly builders with developer-focused ones on the same terms.
Overall score = 55% features, 20% popularity, 25% ratings. Filter by the features you need, or tick two plugins to compare them.

Classic page builders such as Elementor, Divi and Beaver Builder use their own editor on top of WordPress. Block-based tools such as Spectra and Kadence Blocks extend the built-in block editor instead. Block-based options tend to produce lighter pages and keep content readable if you switch tools later; dedicated builders usually offer more design control out of the box.
If you only design landing pages, a free version may be enough. If you want to design headers, footers, single post templates and archives, check for a theme builder, dynamic content, query loops and display conditions. These are often in paid plans.
Builders differ a lot in how much HTML, CSS and JavaScript they add. Bricks, Breakdance and Oxygen are known for leaner output and developer-friendly controls; others have improved with container layouts and loading assets only when used. Test a typical page with PageSpeed Insights before committing a whole site.
Some builders store layouts as shortcodes or custom data, so content becomes hard to reuse if you deactivate them. If you might switch in future, check the content survives deactivation feature in our checklist.
Licences range from per-site annual plans to unlimited-site and lifetime deals. If you build for clients, compare white label, role permissions and cloud template libraries as well as price.
