Elementor
The most widely installed visual page builder for WordPress, with a free drag-and-drop editor and Pro plans adding theme, popup, form and…
Premium site builder delivered as a WordPress theme, popular with developers for clean output, query loops and every feature in every plan.
Bricks is a visual site builder that installs as a WordPress theme rather than a plugin. It launched in 2021 and has built a loyal following among developers and agencies who want a modern, performance-minded alternative to Elementor. Bricks is premium-only, and every plan includes the full feature set; plans differ only by the number of sites.
You design whole sites in a front-end editor: pages, headers, footers, archives, single templates, popups and WooCommerce pages, all assigned with template conditions. Layouts use flexbox and CSS grid, styling runs on global classes, variables and theme styles, and you can set unlimited custom breakpoints, desktop-first or mobile-first. The Query Loop Builder lets any container repeat over posts, terms, users or custom queries, with AJAX pagination and infinite scroll. Dynamic data covers ACF, Meta Box, Pods, JetEngine and Toolset.
Bricks assumes some CSS and layout knowledge, so beginners face a steeper learning curve than with Elementor or Divi. There is no free version, no official white-label option and no built-in AI content generator. Bricks 2.4 instead exposes AI abilities to external agents over MCP. Because it is a theme, switching away means replacing your theme as well, and content is only mirrored into the block editor if you turn that setting on.
Who should pick it: developers and technically confident designers who want fast, clean sites, strong dynamic data and an all-inclusive licence.
Best for: Developers and agencies who want a fast, clean-coded site builder with deep dynamic data and no feature tiers.
Bricks is one of the strongest choices for performance-minded builders: every plan gets the whole toolkit and output stays lean. Beginners may find it more technical than Elementor or Divi, and agencies wanting white-label tools will be disappointed.

How we estimated this: Premium-only and no customer count published. Community group passed 20K members by 2024; assumed ~40K-50K licence holders x ~3 live sites -> 120K-180K, midpoint ~150K. Likely range: 75K to 300K. This counts sites running the paid version, including sites whose licence has lapsed. Estimates are rough and based on public figures as of 14 Oct 2026.

Bricks installs as a WordPress theme, normally used with its child theme. It replaces your existing theme and builds headers, footers and all templates itself.
No. Starter, Business, Agency and Lifetime all include every feature; they differ only in how many sites you can activate.
Bricks 2.4 added AI abilities that let external MCP-compatible agents read and edit your design system, templates and elements. It has no built-in text or image generator.
Bricks stores its data separately by default. You can enable 'Save Bricks data as Block editor data' so content is also saved as normal WordPress blocks, making migration easier.
