These terms apply to your use of PluginCompare (the “site”). By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
1. What the site is
PluginCompare publishes information about WordPress plugins: feature checklists, pricing, install and rating figures, rankings, side-by-side comparisons and buyer’s guides. It is a free, independent reference to help you shortlist plugins. It is not professional, legal, security or financial advice, and we do not sell, host or support any of the plugins listed.
2. Accuracy of information
We check features against each plugin’s WordPress.org page and the vendor’s own website, documentation and pricing pages, and we record a source and date for what we find. Install and rating figures are taken from the WordPress.org Plugins API. Even so:
- Plugins change often. Features, plans and prices may have changed since we last checked them.
- Prices are list prices shown by the vendor at the time of checking. They usually exclude tax and may not reflect discounts, introductory offers or currency conversion.
- Figures marked as estimates (such as estimated Pro installs) are our own calculations, not numbers published by the vendor.
- Features we could not confirm are marked as not verified.
Always confirm the details that matter to you with the plugin’s vendor before you buy or install. If you spot something wrong, please suggest an edit.
3. Rankings, scores and verdicts
Overall scores combine our feature data with popularity, ratings and editorial ratings, as explained in How we compare. Verdicts, pros and cons and “best for” notes are our opinion, based on the data we hold. Some comparison summaries are generated from that data or drafted with AI assistance, and are labelled as such. A high score does not mean a plugin is right for every site.
4. Affiliate links
Some links to vendors are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. Commissions never affect feature data or rankings. See our affiliate disclosure for details.
5. Third-party plugins and websites
The site links to WordPress.org, vendor websites and other third-party services that we do not control. We are not responsible for their content, products, prices, privacy practices or availability. Any purchase, licence or support arrangement is between you and the vendor, on the vendor’s terms.
Plugin names, logos and trademarks belong to their respective owners. They are used only to identify the plugins being compared, and their use does not imply any endorsement or partnership.
6. Suggestions, edits and votes
You can suggest plugins, report corrections and vote on comparisons. When you send us a suggestion you agree that:
- what you send is accurate to the best of your knowledge and is not unlawful, misleading, abusive or spam;
- you will not include other people’s personal information;
- we may use, edit or decline your suggestion, and use it to update the site without payment or credit.
If you tell us you work for or with a plugin vendor, we still check your suggestion against public sources before changing anything.
7. Acceptable use
Please do not:
- try to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site or its systems;
- scrape or copy the site’s content or data in bulk, or use automated tools in a way that puts a heavy load on the site, without our written permission;
- submit fake votes or suggestions, or try to manipulate rankings;
- use the site for anything unlawful.
We may block access for anyone who breaks these rules.
8. Our content
The text, design, feature checklists, scores and the way our data is compiled are our work and are protected by copyright and database rights. You are welcome to quote short extracts or link to our pages, with a clear credit and link back to the source page. Please do not republish our comparisons, rankings or data sets in full without permission.
9. Availability
We aim to keep the site available and up to date, but we provide it “as is” and may change, suspend or remove any part of it at any time without notice.
10. Liability
The site is free and for general information only. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or your reliance on its content, including decisions about which plugins to buy, install or remove, or any problems caused by third-party plugins. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
11. Privacy
When you send a suggestion we store the details you enter, plus limited technical information used to prevent spam and abuse. We use this only to run and improve the site.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they were last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute, except where the law of your country of residence gives you the right to bring a claim locally.
