Rank Math SEO
Site owners and agencies who want the richest free SEO toolkit and affordable multi-site PRO plans.
Titles, sitemaps, schema, redirects and more: how the leading WordPress SEO plugins stack up feature by feature.
An SEO plugin controls how your WordPress site presents itself to search engines and social networks: page titles and meta descriptions, XML sitemaps, schema markup, canonical URLs, redirects and robots rules. Most sites only need one, so choosing well matters, because switching later means migrating settings and metadata.
We compare the most widely used SEO plugins, including Yoast SEO, Rank Math, All in One SEO, SEOPress and The SEO Framework, as well as lighter or newer options such as Slim SEO, SureRank, SmartCrawl and Squirrly SEO. Each one is checked against 27 features covering on-page optimisation, technical SEO, specialist needs such as local and WooCommerce SEO, insights and tools, and agency features like role management, white label and multisite.
Every feature is marked as free, paid, add-on, partial or not offered, with a short note and a link to the source. Rankings blend feature coverage with WordPress.org popularity and ratings, so you can quickly see which SEO plugin fits a blog, a store, a local business or a client site.
Overall score = 55% features, 20% popularity, 25% ratings. Filter by the features you need, or tick two plugins to compare them.

Statuses: Yes Pro Add-on Partial 3rd-party No ?
SEO plugins overlap almost entirely, and running two at once can output duplicate titles, schema and sitemaps. Pick one, and if you are switching, use its import tool to bring over titles, descriptions and redirects from the old plugin before deactivating it.
Title and meta editing, XML sitemaps, basic schema, Open Graph tags and breadcrumbs are included in the free versions of nearly every plugin here. The free tiers differ more in how much analysis and guidance they give you while writing.
Redirect managers, 404 monitoring, extra focus keyphrases, internal linking suggestions, advanced schema types, local SEO, video and news sitemaps and WooCommerce product SEO are common upgrades. Some vendors sell these as separate add-ons rather than one plan, so add up the full cost for the features you need.
If you prefer minimal settings and minimal output, The SEO Framework and Slim SEO focus on doing the essentials automatically. If you want content scoring, AI writing help and built-in Search Console data, Rank Math, AIOSEO and Yoast offer more inside the dashboard.
Check support for llms.txt, IndexNow and AI-assisted metadata if they matter to you, as support varies and changes quickly. Our feature notes include the date each item was last checked.
