Rank Math SEO
Modular WordPress SEO plugin with a broad free tier: redirects, 404 monitor, schema, Search Console analytics and multiple focus keywords.
AI-first WordPress SEO plugin with a built-in MCP server, bring-your-own-key AI writing, schema, sitemaps and Search Console data.
ThinkRank is an SEO plugin from WPDeveloper, the company behind Essential Addons, Templately and EmbedPress. It covers the usual SEO plugin tasks: titles and meta descriptions, a focus keyword score, schema, XML sitemaps, canonical URLs and robots rules. Its main difference is AI support. A built-in MCP server lets Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other AI clients read and change SEO settings after an administrator approves each connection. AI tools for titles, descriptions, content briefs and image alt text run on your own OpenAI, Claude, Gemini or OpenRouter API key, so ThinkRank sells no AI credits.
The plugin is new. It passed 20,000 active installs on WordPress.org within a few months and ships updates several times a week. The free version includes Article, FAQ, HowTo, Organization and Local Business schema, four sitemap modes, Search Console data inside WordPress, an llms.txt generator, a site-wide SEO audit, a role manager, IndexNow and imports from Yoast, Rank Math, AIOSEO, SEOPress, Squirrly and Slim SEO. Pro (listed at $99 a year for one site) adds redirects, a 404 monitor, a broken link checker, AI internal links, keyword rank tracking, GA4, custom schema, news and video sitemaps, multi-location local SEO and advanced WooCommerce SEO.
Redirects and the 404 monitor are Pro-only, while Rank Math and SEOPress include them in their free versions. GA4 data also needs Pro. AI features need your own API key and are billed by your AI provider. The plugin has a short track record and changes quickly, so check the changelog before updating a busy site.
Who should pick it: site owners and agencies who want to run SEO work through an AI assistant, and anyone who wants AI writing tools without a credit meter. Sites that need a free redirect manager should compare Rank Math or SEOPress first.
Best for: Site owners and agencies who want to run SEO tasks through an AI assistant, or want AI writing tools billed by their own AI provider.
ThinkRank covers the core SEO features in its free version and adds a free MCP server so an AI assistant can make SEO changes for you. It is new, and redirects and the 404 monitor are paid, so sites that need those for free should compare Rank Math or SEOPress.

Our estimate, see method below.
How we estimated this: WordPress.org shows 20K+ free installs, which could mean anything from 20K to 30K. The vendor says 20,000+ sites, so we put the free count halfway between the middle of that range and the vendor figure, at about 23K. About 23K free installs x 8% (the usual share of free sites that also run the paid version when some key features are paid) gives 1.8K. Likely range: 900 to 3.6K. This counts sites running the paid version, including sites whose licence has lapsed. Estimates are rough and based on public figures as of 31 Oct 2026.
