Every plugin in a category is checked against the same list of features. Each feature gets one of seven statuses: Included, Paid version, Via add-on, Partial, Third-party, Not included or Not verified. Where we have checked a feature we record the source and the date.
Scores and rankings
A plugin’s feature score weights each feature by how much it matters (1 to 3). Rankings combine the feature score (55%), WordPress.org popularity (20%), editor ratings (15%) and WordPress.org user rating (10%). Affiliate relationships never change scores or rankings.
WordPress.org data
Active installs, ratings, downloads and support figures come from the WordPress.org Plugins API and refresh daily. Figures claimed by vendors (for example combined free and pro installs) are shown separately and labelled as claims.
AI summaries
Comparison summaries are drafted with AI from our structured data plus cited web research, then reviewed by an editor before they are marked as reviewed. If a summary ever contradicts the feature table, the table is right.
