Do you need a slider at all?
Rotating hero sliders often get fewer clicks than one strong static image and can slow down your largest content paint. Use a slider when you genuinely need to show several items, such as products, testimonials or a gallery.
Simple or animated
For image and post carousels, a light plugin such as MetaSlider is enough. For layered, animated hero sections, Smart Slider 3, Slider Revolution and LayerSlider offer free-form editors and templates, at the cost of more scripts.
Performance
Check that scripts load only on pages with a slider, images are lazy-loaded and responsive sizes are served. Heavy sliders can hurt Core Web Vitals.
Mobile
Layers that look good on desktop can overlap on phones. Device-specific controls let you hide or rearrange elements per screen size.
Where you edit
