OptinMonster
Hosted lead-generation and popup platform with a free WordPress connector; popups, bars, slide-ins and gamified campaigns for marketers.
Freemium drag-and-drop popup and conversion widget builder for WordPress: popups, slide-ins, sticky bars, multi-step forms, quizzes and A/B tests.
Brave (Brave Conversion Engine, listed on WordPress.org as Brave Popup Builder) is a freemium popup and conversion-widget plugin from AmpleByte. Campaigns are designed on a free-form drag-and-drop canvas where you place elements such as text, images, shapes, buttons, forms, post lists and WooCommerce products, with a separate mobile layout if you want one.
The free plugin builds popups, modals, slide-ins, sticky header bars, sidebars, notification boxes and full-screen layouts with no limit on the number of campaigns or views and no credit links. It includes 15 starter presets, page/post/category targeting, display-frequency controls, simple view and conversion analytics, custom goals and connections to around 25 email services including Mailchimp, Brevo, ConvertKit, Klaviyo, HubSpot and FluentCRM. A code element lets you drop in shortcodes from other plugins, such as a contact form. Assets load after the page to keep it light.
Pro adds the advanced triggers (exit intent, scroll and form-submit), device, user-role and traffic-source targeting, geo-targeting by country or city, WooCommerce cart and purchase rules, UTM and cookie-based personalisation, A/B testing, advanced analytics and Google Analytics goal tracking. It also unlocks multi-step popups and forms with branching, quizzes, unlimited form fields, auto-reply emails, Zapier and other webhook-style automations, inline embeds with a lock-content-below option, 100 presets, more elements (video, countdown, stickers, login) and a stock media library. All Pro plans have the same features and differ only in site count.
Brave suits site owners who want design freedom and a wide range of widget types at a low annual price, especially agencies that can use the 10- or 100-site plans.
Best for: Budget-conscious site owners and agencies who want design-heavy popups, bars and multi-step forms with solid targeting.
Brave offers a lot of design freedom and targeting for a modest yearly price, and the free version is usable for basic popups and sticky bars. Key triggers like exit intent sit behind Pro, so most serious users will upgrade. It is good value, though the product and its docs are less mature than the market leaders.

Our estimate, see method below.
How we estimated this: WordPress.org shows 20K+ free installs, which could mean anything from 20K to 30K. The vendor says 20K+ sites, so we put the free count halfway between the middle of that range and the vendor figure, at about 23K. About 23K free installs x 8% (the usual share of free sites that also run the paid version when some key features are paid) gives 1.8K. Likely range: 900 to 3.6K. This counts sites running the paid version, including sites whose licence has lapsed. Estimates are rough and based on public figures as of 14 Oct 2026.
