OptinMonster
Hosted lead-generation and popup platform with a free WordPress connector; popups, bars, slide-ins and gamified campaigns for marketers.
Premium WordPress list-building plugin from Thrive Themes with popups, ribbons, slide-ins, screen fillers, content locks, A/B testing and lead reports.
Thrive Leads is a premium opt-in and popup plugin from Thrive Themes. It is sold as a standalone plugin and is also bundled in Thrive Suite alongside Thrive Architect, Thrive Quiz Builder, Thrive Apprentice and the other Thrive tools. There is no free version on WordPress.org.
Forms are organised into Lead Groups, which decide where a set of forms may appear (front page, posts, pages, categories, tags, custom post types, archives and specific URLs) and on which devices. Inside a group you add form types: popups, sticky ribbons, slide-ins, full-screen screen fillers, scroll mats, in-content forms and widgets. Separately you can create ThriveBoxes (click-triggered lightboxes), shortcode forms, content locks and Signup Segue links that let existing subscribers join a new list in one click. Each form is designed in a drag-and-drop editor built on Thrive Architect, with a large template library and separate mobile tweaks.
Overlay forms can fire on a time delay, scroll distance, the bottom of the page or, on popups, the SmartExit exit-intent trigger, and they have simple frequency settings (always, once a day or after a set number of days). SmartLinks can hide forms from people who are already subscribers.
A/B testing is built in for every form type, and the reporting dashboard shows impressions, conversions and conversion rate over time, plus which traffic sources convert best. Subscribers are passed to your email service via Thrive’s API connections, which cover 50+ providers plus Zapier.
Thrive Leads suits bloggers, course creators and marketers who want deep on-site list building with A/B testing and no monthly SaaS fees, especially if they already use, or plan to buy, Thrive Suite.
Best for: Content sites and course creators who want many opt-in formats plus A/B testing inside WordPress, ideally as part of Thrive Suite.
Thrive Leads remains one of the most complete self-hosted list-building plugins for form variety and split testing. Its targeting is limited to content and device rules, so stores that need cart- or location-based campaigns should look elsewhere. It is best value when bought as part of Thrive Suite.
