Fluent Forms
Fast WordPress form builder from WPManageNinja with a generous free tier (conversational forms, Stripe, AI builder) and one-tier Pro licences.
Beginner-friendly drag-and-drop form builder from Awesome Motive with a free Lite plugin, 2,100+ templates and tiered Pro plans for payments and CRMs.
WPForms is a drag-and-drop form builder launched in 2016 and owned by Awesome Motive. It is one of the most installed form plugins on WordPress.org, where WPForms Lite reports 5 million+ active installs, and it targets site owners who want forms working quickly without code.
Lite covers simple contact and payment forms. You get the visual builder, a library of 2,100+ templates, AI form generation, form themes and block-editor styling, email notifications and confirmations, and GDPR options. Spam protection includes a built-in honeypot-based anti-spam token, minimum time to submit, reCAPTCHA, hCaptcha, Cloudflare Turnstile and Akismet. Lite can also take Stripe, PayPal and Square payments, including Stripe subscriptions, but a 3% platform fee applies until you buy Pro or higher.
Two Lite limits matter. Entries are not viewable in the dashboard; they are emailed and backed up through Lite Connect so they appear once you upgrade. And conditional logic, file uploads, multi-page forms and repeater fields require a paid licence.
WPForms’ strengths are its polished interface, very large template library and strong documentation. Its weaknesses are the pricing ladder: most advanced features cluster in Pro, webhooks and major CRMs are Elite-only, and advertised prices are first-year discounts that roughly double at renewal. Developers may also find it less flexible than code-oriented builders.
WPForms suits small businesses, bloggers and non-technical site owners who want a simple builder now and a clear upgrade path later.
Best for: Non-technical site owners and small businesses who want polished forms quickly with a clear upgrade path.
WPForms is one of the easiest form builders to pick up, and Lite now covers payments, AI generation and styling. The catch is a steep pricing ladder: serious features land in Pro and integrations like webhooks need Elite, so check renewal prices before committing.

Free installs from WordPress.org, the vendor's own claim, and our estimate of paid installs.
Active installations reported by WordPress.org.

Our estimate, see method below.
How we estimated this: WordPress.org shows 5M+ free installs, which could mean anything from 5M to 10M. The vendor says 6M+ sites, so we put the free count halfway between the middle of that range and the vendor figure, at about 6.8M. Website scans by WPoptic find the paid plugin (folder wpforms) on 99,248 live sites; they find the free version on 654,133 sites against about 6.8M WordPress.org installs, so each site found stands for about 10, giving 990K. About 6.8M free installs x 14% (the usual share of free sites that also run the paid version when many key features are paid, lower for very large free bases) gives 940K. Combining these (weighted average) gives about 990K. Likely range: 640K to 1.5M. This counts sites running the paid version, including sites whose licence has lapsed. Estimates are rough and based on public figures as of 14 Oct 2026.
