FluentCRM
Self-hosted email marketing and CRM plugin by WPManageNinja: unlimited contacts, campaigns and automation funnels, sending through your own SMTP or ESP.
Lightweight self-hosted newsletter plugin with opt-in forms, new-post emails and automation rules; premium unlocks the visual editor, lists and sequences.
Noptin is a newsletter and email automation plugin by Brian Mutende (Hizzle) that keeps subscribers and campaigns in your WordPress database and sends through wp_mail. It positions itself as a lightweight, self-hosted alternative to Mailchimp for bloggers, WooCommerce stores and membership sites.
The free plugin provides unlimited subscribers, subscription forms (shortcodes, blocks, popups, slide-ins and widgets), opt-in checkboxes on comment, registration, checkout and many form plugins, double opt-in, custom subscriber fields, CSV import and export, and newsletters written in the classic, HTML or plain-text editors. New-post notifications, post digests and automation rules triggered by WooCommerce orders, form submissions and other events are included, along with per-campaign open, click and unsubscribe stats. Because sending uses wp_mail, any SMTP plugin is picked up automatically, and sending limits per hour can be set.
All paid plans include the same features and differ only by site count and AI credits. A licence unlocks:
Noptin is light on resources, integrates with a long list of WordPress plugins and lets you keep full ownership of subscriber data. However, the free version is more restricted than its WordPress.org listing suggests: the visual editor, lists and recipient segmentation all need a licence, there is no A/B testing or visual workflow canvas, bounce handling is limited to Amazon SES, and there is no built-in sending service.
Pick Noptin if you want a fast, self-hosted newsletter tool with deep WordPress integrations and are happy to buy a licence (including a lifetime option) to unlock the editor and segmentation.
Best for: WordPress site owners who want a lightweight, self-hosted newsletter with strong plugin integrations and are open to a one-off lifetime licence.
Noptin is a lean, well-integrated self-hosted newsletter plugin, and its free version handles forms, post notifications and simple automations well. Most growing lists will want a licence for the visual editor, lists and segmentation, but lifetime pricing makes that easier to justify.

Our estimate, see method below.
How we estimated this: The vendor figure (15K+) is within WordPress.org's rounding of the free installs, so it says nothing about paid sites. About 15K free installs x 8% (the usual share of free sites that also run the paid version when some key features are paid) gives 1.2K. Likely range: 600 to 2.4K. This counts sites running the paid version, including sites whose licence has lapsed. Estimates are rough and based on public figures as of 14 Oct 2026.
