WPML
Premium multilingual plugin for WordPress with a side-by-side translation editor, AI translation credits, WooCommerce support and team workflows.
Cloud AI translation service for WordPress with SEO-friendly translated URLs, a live front-end editor and word-based yearly plans after a free month.
Linguise is a hosted automatic translation service. The free WordPress.org plugin connects your site to the Linguise cloud, which translates pages with Google Cloud AI by default and serves them on language sub-folders such as /fr/ with translated URLs, hreflang and canonical tags.
When a translated URL is requested, the plugin fetches the translation from Linguise (with an optional local cache) and outputs the page, including AJAX-loaded content, WooCommerce cart fragments, checkout and order emails in the customer’s language. Because it works on rendered HTML, content from Elementor, Divi, Bricks, Avada, JetEngine and similar tools is covered, along with form plugins such as WPForms and Elementor Pro forms.
Corrections are made in a live front-end editor or the Linguise dashboard. Global rules let you exclude text, CSS selectors or URLs from translation and replace terms per language, and the dashboard can swap images and links per language. Admin, manager and per-language translator accounts make it practical to bring in reviewers.
There is a one-month free trial with up to 600,000 words, then paid plans for one website each: START (200,000 words, $165/yr), PRO (600,000 words, $275/yr) and LARGE (unlimited words under a fair-use policy, $495/yr). Every plan includes unlimited languages and page views; monthly billing is $15, $25 and $45. Words are counted once when translated, and manual edits do not use quota. A higher-quality LLM-based Linguise AI model is sold separately as prepaid credits from $20 for 500,000 words.
On the other hand, translations are stored in Linguise’s cloud rather than your database, WordPress uses sub-folders only, there is no currency switching, and the service stops translating new content once a plan’s word quota is reached. The WordPress plugin also has a much smaller install base than older rivals.
Linguise suits sites that want automatic, SEO-ready translation with editing tools and a predictable yearly price, and that are comfortable with a hosted service.
Best for: Sites that want automatic, SEO-ready translation with a live editor and translator accounts, billed by translated words per year.
Linguise covers the SEO basics of multilingual sites well and its editor, rules and translator roles are practical for teams. It is a hosted service with word quotas, so check how many words your site will need across languages, and accept that translations live on Linguise's servers.

Our estimate, see method below.
How we estimated this: The free connector plugin has about 1.5K active installs and needs a paid account; assuming 60% are on a paid plan gives 900. Likely range: 450 to 1.8K. This counts sites running the paid version, including sites whose licence has lapsed. Estimates are rough and based on public figures as of 14 Oct 2026.
