WooCommerce
Free, open-source WordPress store plugin from Automattic for physical and digital products, extended with free and paid extensions from the Woo Marketplace.
Self-hosted WordPress shopping cart from Level Four Development. The free core adds a 2% fee; PRO and Premium add subscriptions, downloads and live rates.
WP EasyCart is a standalone shopping cart for WordPress, built by Level Four Development. It keeps products, orders and customers in its own database tables rather than relying on WooCommerce. It has its own admin console, store pages built with shortcodes, a block or Elementor widgets, and My Account pages for customers.
The free plugin allows unlimited products and orders. It supports option sets and swatches (up to two option sets), stock tracking and low-stock digests, and Stripe, Square and PayPal with Apple Pay and Google Pay. It also includes rate-table shipping, local pickup, country and state tax or VAT with VAT number checks, basic sales and tax reports, and a weekly summary email. The trade-off is a 2% WP EasyCart fee on payments taken through Stripe, Square or PayPal, on top of the processor’s fee.
PRO ($89/year for one site) removes the fee. It adds 30+ more gateways, one-page checkout, custom checkout questions, 12 advanced option types with variants and conditional logic, and subscriptions. It also adds digital downloads, gift cards, donations, preorders, quotes, bundles, wholesale pricing, coupons and promotions, abandoned-cart emails, live rates from seven carriers, TaxJar and TaxCloud, order editing and refunds, and nine more report tabs. Premium ($129/year) adds the store-manager apps and its extension set: ShipStation, Shippo, Avalara, QuickBooks Desktop, Mailchimp, Klaviyo and a Facebook/Instagram catalogue.
Who should pick it: small and mid-sized merchants who want a self-contained WordPress cart with subscriptions, downloads and live shipping, without assembling WooCommerce extensions. Plan on PRO, because the free version’s 2% fee adds up.
Best for: Small merchants who want an all-in-one self-hosted WordPress cart with subscriptions, downloads and live shipping without stacking WooCommerce add-ons.
WP EasyCart packs a lot of store into a modest PRO licence and keeps everything self-hosted. The free version is usable, but its 2% fee and missing coupons and downloads push most stores to PRO. The smaller ecosystem is the main reason to choose WooCommerce instead.
What WP EasyCart highlights on its WordPress.org page and its own website, split by version.

How we estimated this: About 3.5K free installs x 12% (the usual share of free sites that also run the paid version when some key features are paid, and store owners upgrade more often) gives 420. Likely range: 210 to 840. This counts sites running the paid version, including sites whose licence has lapsed. Estimates are rough and based on public figures as of 14 Oct 2026.
