Envira Gallery
Drag-and-drop WordPress gallery plugin with a free Lite version and paid add-ons for albums, video, proofing, watermarks and WooCommerce selling.
Free lightbox and gallery plugin by dFactory with eight lightbox scripts, a gallery builder, media folders and paid layout and lightbox extensions.
Responsive Lightbox & Gallery from dFactory started as a lightbox plugin and grew into a gallery builder. Its core job is to add a lightbox automatically to WordPress image links, native galleries, video links, widgets, comments and the WooCommerce product gallery, using one of eight bundled scripts such as SwipeBox, Magnific Popup, Featherlight or GLightbox.
On top of that, the free plugin includes a drag-and-drop gallery builder with grid, slider and masonry templates. Galleries can be filled from the Media Library, from featured images of posts (updating as new content is published) or from a media folder, and the builder offers five hover effects, title and caption controls, and standard, AJAX or infinite-scroll pagination with a load more button. Media Folders adds drag-and-drop folder organisation to the Media Library, and the Remote Library lets you search and import images from Flickr, Unsplash and Wikimedia. Gutenberg blocks, the WP Gallery and Image blocks, multisite and conditional script loading are supported.
Extra layouts and lightboxes are sold as individual extensions at $29 each, or together in the Photo & Art Bundle at $69, $79 or $99 per year for one, five or unlimited sites. Extensions include Justified, Expander, Inline, Hidden, Slider and Masonry Pro galleries, the Fancybox Pro, PhotoSwipe, Lightgallery, Lightcase and Strip lightboxes, Lightbox Comments and Remote Library Pro, which adds sources such as Pixabay, Pexels and Instagram. Video embeds inside galleries rely on the Lightgallery, Fancybox Pro or Lightcase extensions.
It is a strong pick for bloggers, publishers and WooCommerce stores that mainly need a reliable lightbox and simple galleries. Photographers needing albums, watermarks or proofing will want a dedicated portfolio plugin.
Best for: Sites that want a dependable lightbox across all content plus straightforward galleries, without a heavy photography suite.
Responsive Lightbox & Gallery is one of the most practical free ways to add a lightbox everywhere on a WordPress site, and its gallery builder covers everyday needs. It is thin on photographer features, so treat it as a lightbox-first tool rather than a portfolio platform.
