Self-hosted cookie consent plugin with a setup wizard, cookie scan, script blocking and generated legal documents for EU, UK, US and other…
Cookie banner plugin connected to the CookieYes web app, with scanning, auto-blocking and consent logs; plans priced per domain by monthly page views.
CookieYes (WordPress.org slug cookie-law-info, formerly GDPR Cookie Consent) is a cookie banner plugin from CookieYes Limited, a UK company founded in 2018. The plugin adds the banner to WordPress and connects to the CookieYes web app, where scanning, consent logs and paid features are managed. The plugin can run without connecting to the app, but scanning, settings sync and dashboard reports depend on the connection.
After connecting a free account, CookieYes scans the site, matches what it finds against its database of categorised cookies and blocks non-essential scripts such as Google Analytics or the Meta Pixel until consent. Visitors can accept or reject individual categories, and the plugin passes consent to Google Consent Mode v2, Microsoft UET and the WP Consent API. Cookie and privacy policy generators are included, and consent records can be exported as CSV.
The free plan covers one domain with up to 5,000 page views a month and 100 pages per scan. Paid plans are billed per domain:
Basic and Pro charge an overage of $0.30 per 1,000 extra page views, and all paid plans start with a 14-day free trial.
Setup is quick because the scan and categorisation are automated, and the banner is described as WCAG 2.1 AA certified on every plan. The trade-off is that costs scale with traffic and with each extra domain, and useful options such as custom colours, geo-targeting and TCF sit on paid tiers. Consent data lives in the CookieYes cloud rather than in WordPress. No access or deletion request forms are listed in the plans.
CookieYes suits small and medium sites that want a quick, managed setup and are comfortable with a SaaS account; high-traffic or multi-domain sites should compare the per-domain cost against self-hosted plugins. It is a compliance tool, not legal advice.
Best for: Small and medium sites that want a quick, managed cookie banner and are comfortable with a SaaS account priced per domain.
CookieYes is easy to set up and its free plan covers the essentials for low-traffic sites. Costs rise with traffic and domains, and key options such as geo-targeting and TCF need the Pro plan, so busy or multi-domain sites should compare it with self-hosted alternatives.

Free installs from WordPress.org, the vendor's own claim, and our estimate of paid installs.

Our estimate, see method below.
How we estimated this: WordPress.org shows 1M+ free installs, which could mean anything from 1M to 2M. The vendor says 1.5M+ sites, so we put the free count halfway between the middle of that range and the vendor figure, at about 1.5M. About 1.5M free installs x 3.5% (the usual share of free sites that also run the paid version when a hosted service whose free tier is generous, lower for very large free bases) gives 52K. Likely range: 27K to 110K. This counts sites running the paid version, including sites whose licence has lapsed. Estimates are rough and based on public figures as of 14 Oct 2026.
