Self-hosted cookie consent plugin with a setup wizard, cookie scan, script blocking and generated legal documents for EU, UK, US and other…
Usercentrics' hosted consent platform for WordPress: cloud scanning, auto-blocking and certified Consent Mode and TCF, priced per domain by subpages.
Cookiebot is a consent management platform from Usercentrics, and the WordPress plugin connects a site to a Cookiebot account. You create or connect an account, paste your Domain Group ID into the plugin, and the banner, cookie scan, consent records and configuration are then handled by Cookiebot’s cloud service. The plugin adds WordPress-specific pieces such as a Cookie Declaration block, add-ons that hold back plugin scripts until consent, network settings for multisite and WP-CLI commands.
Cookiebot crawls the site and categorises the cookies and trackers it finds against its database of pre-categorised trackers. Consent is collected by category (preferences, statistics, marketing), and Google Consent Mode v2 signals are sent automatically. Cookiebot is Google-certified as a CMP and certified for IAB TCF, and it shares consent with other plugins through the WP Consent API. Region-specific banners use multiple configurations, each tied to its own Domain Group.
The free plan covers one domain with up to 50 subpages, one banner language, manual cookie blocking and an initial scan. Premium plans are priced per domain by subpage count, from about $8 a month (Lite) to $96 a month (Extra Large). They add:
A 14-day trial with all premium features needs no card, but the banner stops showing afterwards unless you upgrade.
Cookiebot’s certifications and scanning are useful for advertising-heavy sites and for organisations that want a managed service. The free plan is tight for most WordPress sites because of the 50-subpage cap and manual blocking, and the pricing page mixes dollar and euro figures, so check the checkout price for your number of domains. Consent data is held by the vendor, not in WordPress, and there are no built-in forms for data access or deletion requests.
Cookiebot fits businesses that prefer a hosted, certified CMP and are happy to pay per domain. Small sites that want local data storage or no subscription may prefer a self-hosted plugin. It supports compliance work but is not legal advice.
Best for: Businesses and ad-funded publishers that want a hosted, certified consent platform and accept per-domain subscription pricing.
Cookiebot is a well-established hosted CMP with strong certifications and an automated scanner. The free plan is too limited for most real sites, so treat it as a paid service and compare the per-domain cost with self-hosted plugins.

Our estimate, see method below.
How we estimated this: About 150K free installs x 25% (the usual share of free sites that also run the paid version when a hosted service whose free tier is tightly capped) gives 38K. The vendor figure (2.4M) is more than 8 times the free installs, so it probably counts more than this plugin (other products or platforms) and we leave it out. Likely range: 19K to 74K. This counts sites running the paid version, including sites whose licence has lapsed. Estimates are rough and based on public figures as of 14 Oct 2026.
