LiteSpeed Cache
Free server-level cache and optimisation suite from LiteSpeed Technologies; full-page caching needs a LiteSpeed web server or QUIC.cloud CDN.
Free WordPress cache plugin with static page caching, Redis and Memcached object cache, database cleanup and a built-in MCP server.
xSpeed Cache is a caching and performance plugin from WPDeveloper, released on WordPress.org in 2026. It writes pages as static HTML files that the web server sends before PHP starts, and sets this up on Apache, nginx and LiteSpeed. The free version also covers minifying and combining CSS and JavaScript, defer and delay JavaScript, lazy loading, font optimisation, LCP image preloading, browser cache headers, GZIP, a sitemap-based preloader, Redis and Memcached object caching, CDN URL rewriting, Cloudflare purging and scheduled database cleanup.
The plugin ships an MCP server, so Claude, ChatGPT and other AI clients can run speed tests, change settings and purge the cache. The free xSpeed Hub links many sites to one dashboard and one AI connection. Pro (listed from $58 a year for one site, with lifetime licences also sold) adds Critical CSS, unused CSS removal, WebP and AVIF conversion, Brotli, caching for 404s, search, feeds and the REST API, predictive cache warming, real-user monitoring and AI recommendations using your own AI provider key.
Critical CSS, unused CSS removal and image conversion need Pro. Network-wide multisite settings are also a Pro feature. The plugin is only a few months old, so it has a short track record. A security fix (CVE-2026-109985) shipped in version 1.4.3, so keep it updated.
Who should pick it: sites that want page caching, object caching and database cleanup in one free plugin, and agencies who want to manage caching on many client sites through xSpeed Hub or an AI assistant. Sites that need Critical CSS or image conversion should budget for Pro.
Best for: Sites that want page caching, object caching and database cleanup in one free plugin, and agencies managing many sites from one dashboard or an AI assistant.
xSpeed Cache includes more in its free version than most cache plugins, including object caching and database cleanup. Its advanced CSS and image tools are paid, and it is very new, so test it on a staging site before replacing a cache plugin you already rely on.

Free installs from WordPress.org, the vendor's own claim, and our estimate of paid installs.
Active installations reported by WordPress.org.

Our estimate, see method below.
How we estimated this: WordPress.org shows 10K+ free installs, which could mean anything from 10K to 20K. The vendor says 10,000+ sites, so we put the free count halfway between the middle of that range and the vendor figure, at about 13K. About 13K free installs x 4% (the usual share of free sites that also run the paid version when most features are free) gives 500. Likely range: 250 to 1K. This counts sites running the paid version, including sites whose licence has lapsed. Estimates are rough and based on public figures as of 31 Oct 2026.
